Pilonidal sinus

Pilonidal sinus

A “Pilonidal sinus” may form on the skin in the area of the coccyx just above the anus.

Hair follicles can be acquired as a collection of hairs. It is a skin sinus caused by hairs growing on the coccyx. If the sinus is blocked, bacterial infection can develop in the sinus, which can lead to stasis and an abscess. They are called pilonidal cysts and pilonidal sinus abscesses.

The following is an example of Internet pediatric health counseling Q&A regarding “I’m worried about sinus sinus, sinus abscess, skin sinus, postnatal indentation”.

Q&A. I’m worried about sinus sinuses, molar abscesses, skin sinuses, postnatal indentations

Q. Hello? I am grateful for the sincere and sincere advice of the teacher. After being discharged from the hospital 3 days after birth, when I came home, I found that the radius of the upper hip was slightly dented (1.5 Cm in diameter, 0.3 Cm in depth). There are no scars on her. It looks like she pressed it with her finger. I wonder what the cause is. When taking an MRI, we suggest using a contrast agent. I am concerned that side effects or hypersensitivity reactions will not occur even if a contrast agent is used for a 9-day-old newborn. Would it be okay? The MRI scan was scheduled for the morning of July 26 (tomorrow). Thank you for your quick reply.

A. jun mom Hello. Thanks for the nice question. It is ideal to diagnose and treat the disease by synthesizing the baby’s age, gender, past medical history, family history, examination findings, and clinical examination, but we will respond taking into account the information you have given us. As you said, there are some congenital anomalies that are slightly depressed in the area of the spine (sacrum) just above the anus.

One is the Dermal sinus. In some cases, the skin sinuses are connected with the meninges in the sacrum or coccyx. In this case, the skin sinuses must be treated by surgical excision. In addition, the pilonidal sinus in that area is acquired. It is a skin sinus made of hairs on the skin of the coccyx. If the skin sinuses become clogged, a bacterial infection in the capillary sinuses can result in a state abscess.

It is called a Pilonidal cyst abscess or Pilonidal sinus abscess. A deformity called a postanal dimple may also form in the area just above the anus. If there is inflammation there, treatment is required. So, it’s normal to keep watching. I’m not sure which of the three without an examination, but I think postnatal indentations. There seems to be Rarely, side effects that can occur when you take a contrast agent and do an MRI. For more information,

please contact your regular pediatrician directly. If you have any further questions, please contact us again. Thank you. Lee Sang-won.

The following is an example of Internet Child and Adolescent Health Counseling Q&A on “Thank you again, I sweat too much”.

Q&A. Thanks again very much, I sweat so much

Q. The last time I had severe diarrhea and vomiting, I was very worried, but thanks to the detailed information from the teacher, Tony has regained her health.

Again, thank you very much. What I am curious about this time is that Tony suddenly seems to be sweating too much, so I am worried that there is something wrong with his body.

This is not the case when waking up and playing, but when I fall asleep, I sweat so much that the place I slept in was soaked. In severe cases, your hair is all wet with sweat, and when you touch it with your hands, the water runs down your hands.

I wonder if it hurts somewhere… I’ve never done this before. I didn’t even cover the duvet because I thought it might be hot. Tony is now a little over 8 months old, and 2 weeks ago he had severe diarrhea and vomiting for a week or so. please answer my question. Thank you.

A. Tony Mom Good morning. Thanks for asking.

That’s a good question. The more you know your child’s age, gender, past medical history, family history, medical findings, and clinical tests, the more helpful it is to give you an answer. We will give you an answer based on the information you provided.

So far, I have not seen infants and young children who are generally healthy and have problems with sweating. The main cause of sweating is when a healthy child covers, wears, eats, exercises or the ambient temperature is high.

For reference, children with atopic constitution can sweat exceptionally without any disease. When you sweat a lot, read about sweating. When you have regular health check-ups, please consult about sweat. If you have any further questions from the pediatrician, please contact us again. Thank you. Lee Sang-won.
