카로틴혈증, Carotenemia

카로틴 성분이 많이 든 당근, 오렌지 주스, 펌프킨 등을 과량 섭취해 혈중 카로틴 농도가 과잉상태로 될 때 피부색이 일시적으로 노랗게 변하는 증상을 카로틴 혈증이라 한다.
손바닥이나 피부색이 노랗게 변할 수 있으나 눈의 색은 노랗게 변하지 않는다.
카로틴 혈증은 간 질환, 혈 지방증, 갑상선 기능저하증, 당뇨병, 포르피린증 등으로도 카로틴 혈증이 생기기 더 쉽다.

카로틴혈증의 증상 징후

피부가 황색으로 변하는 것 이 외 다른 증상 징후는 없다.
다른 병과 함께 있을 때 다른 병으로 인한 증상 징후가 나타날 수 있다.

카로틴혈증의 진단

병력, 증상, 진찰, 카로틴 혈중 농도검사 등으로 진단한다.
혈중 빌리루빈 농도는 정상이다.

카로틴혈증의 치료

카로틴을 함유한 채소류를 적절히 섭취한다.

Carotenemia

• Carotenemia is a condition in which the skin color temporarily turns yellow when the blood carotene concentration becomes excessive due to excessive consumption of carrots, orange juice, or pumpkin containing a lot of carotenes.

• The color of the palms and skin may turn yellow, but the color of the eyes does not turn yellow.

• Carotenemia is also more likely to occur with liver disease, hypothyroidism, diabetes, and porphyria.

Symptoms. signs of carotenemia

• There are no signs of symptoms other than yellowing of the skin.

• When co-existing with other diseases, symptoms of other diseases may appear.

Diagnosis of carotenemia

• Diagnosis is made by medical history, symptoms, examination, and carotene blood level test.

• Blood bilirubin levels are normal.

Treatment of carotenemia

• Eat vegetables that contain carotene in moderation.
